A main thoroughfare runs runs the length of the city centre. Commencing near the railway station and ending at the ancient city gateway, the street used to be a Roman way.

The far end of the shopping street is home to fast food eateries before becoming populated with retail stores. A more vibrant area with cafes in cross streets is closer to the Markt.
