HAPPENINGS IN NEUSS

Many events pop up and disappear with little or no advertising. Some activities are small or unique. Such happenings are posted in this calendar. A  source of possible surprise and discovery.

Neuss may be a relatively small city but there is much going here. Happenings include concerts, theatre performances, an exhibit vernissage or finissage. Spontaneous celebrations, an opening, anniversary or a pop-up market can be thoroughly enjoyable too.

Happenings often take place with surprisingly little publicity. Just a few local nationals attend. Many in the expat community of Neuss, Düsseldorf and the region adore these gatherings.

The calendar below offers expats a quick, easy and simple way to discover current activities all on one page. Please confirm to take note of any cancellations or changes.

All the recorder ensembles of the Neuss music school are one stage and, in addition to the Minis, the first half will feature Mezzoflaute and the FlauTeens with a world premiere composed especially for the Neuss ensemble. Swiss composer Matthias Heep will be introducing his work ‘Fun for FlauTeens’. Accompanied by Eleni Anastasiadou at the piano, BLOCK FATALE will perform a work by the Viennese composer Richard Stöhr. The second half of the concert then belongs to the BON under the direction of Ralf Bienioschek. ‘An Italian summer night’ is the BON's motto for this evening. Thanks to the unique combination of a large recorder ensemble from soprano to sub-bass flutes in combination with a small band and a broad repertoire ranging from Bach to Michael Jackson, the BON now has a nationwide fan base. At the BON's Christmas concert last year, the Zeughaus was filled to capacity. Free entry. Zeughaus

This year's summer concert by the Cantica Nova chamber choir of the Neuss music school presents a colourful, sonorous mosaic of different epochs, genres and styles from classical to modern, from madrigal to pop song, from art song to chanson. Focus is on changes in nature through the cyclical rhythm of the seasons from the blossoming of spring, the abundance of summer, the melancholy of autumn and the stillness of winter.  Or the cycle of the times of day from dawn to deepest night. Admission is free with tickets acquired at the info desk. Romaneum
